Campaigning for the environment and social justice
I became interested in Green politics in my teens, originally joining CND and the Green Party (or the Ecology Party as it was then called) in 1983. Now no longer in my teens, I am again a member of the Green Party and have been campaigning hard on many environmental and social issues.
I stood in the 2010 General Election as the Green Party's candidate for Maidstone and the Weald and regularly stand in local government elections, getting 23% in 2012. I am Chair of Kent Green Party and have previously served on the national executive as the Party’s Policy Coordinator.
In my spare time I work in the NHS as a manager and am a registered nurse. I am married to Dawn and we have a daughter Poppy, and we live in central Maidstone.
We have to prevent the headlong descent into rapid climate change and ecological disaster coupled with the rich elite grabbing what they can to protect their own skins. I want to be that strong voice in the European Parliament that says no to the destruction of our planet, whether it is standing strong against fracking, calling for real action on climate change and renewable energy or protecting the rights of animals against barbaric practices.
Action to stop the ecological destruction must go hand in hand with a fairer society. I will the voice that says no to discrimination against people on low income.
