Join our fact finding walk organised by Mole Valley Green Party around the Horse Hill oil exploration site, near Gatwick Airport, starting at 1020am at Salfords Station on Sunday 28th June. Or just join for the talks and picnic at Horse Hill at 1pm.
The walk explores beautiful countryside on mostly quiet roads and public rights of way that overlay what is claimed to be the largest oil field in the UK. If oil companies can make the site commercially viable they plan to extract the oil, causing huge environmental impacts over a wide area.
Walkers and those who just want to come along for the talks and picnic will rendezvous at 1pm at Horse Hill (see map although this is approximate only so please contact Chris Crook for precise location). There will be talks on climate change, fracking and Horse Hill from Chris Crook and Rob Basto. Please bring a picnic.
The walk will carry on after lunch, ending at Horley train station by 5pm with an optional pub visit, if time, near the end.
Please wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves and bring a hat and generally be prepared for whatever the weather has to offer.
If you would like to attend please email Chris Crook firstname.lastname@example.org so we can keep you in touch with event plans (eg if the weather is forecast to be wet). You can sign up here or via Facebook.
