Green Euro-MP To Champion Local Government In New Vice President Role

27 July 2010

13 July 2010 – The South East’s Green Euro-MP has been appointed a Vice President of the Local Government Association Group in the European Parliament.

Keith Taylor MEP, a former Brighton and Hove councillor, will take up the year long post in July. He today welcomed the opportunity to champion the cause of local government in Europe – and pledged to promote accountable and transparent local democracy that is also good value for money for taxpayers.

Keith said: “As a new Member of the European Parliament representing the South East, I am delighted to have been made a Vice President of the LGA Group and look forward to putting my 11 year experience leading our Green councillors group at Brighton and Hove Council to good use.

“At a time when the coalition government is slashing funding for every town hall in the country, local authorities need all the friends they can get.”
