Mark Wood, a Green Party member in West Oxfordshire, starved to death after his benefits were cut, when Atos decided he was fit for work. Stuart Macdonald, our Parliamentary candidate for Witney, has written a short obituary.
Mark Wood was a Green Party member, struggling to live. He came out to help Stuart Macdonald's campaign against David Cameron in 2010.
Later his struggles against mental illness became so bad he stopped working. The inquest report showed how in January 2012 Atos Healthcare decided he was fit to work, and his benefits stopped in April. Suffering from food phobias, he stopped eating, and died from malnutrition in the summer.
Stuart Macdonald wrote a short in memoriam piece on Mark Wood in his blog.
Kevin Hickman has written a letter to Mark's MP, David Cameron. So far he has not received a reply, only an acknowledgement.
