Launching Hampshire Greens – a cross county initiative to further the green surge

The launch event for Hants Greens is to help get local groups talking, to start coordination, mutual support and joined up working to reduce workload and maximise impact. This one day gathering for activists from across Hampshire aims to gain consensus on how local parties in Hampshire can work better together, to provide training on key topics as needs are identified such as campaigning, to have time for networking and build cohesion between Green activists in Hampshire and to inspire and thank participants from across the county.

Hampshire is a large, diverse county. We have many strong local groups but some have been rather weak at linking in with the South East, and National Levels. A Hampshire group will give local groups more support, and a stronger united voice. Coordination will help local groups, and also the public see a stronger, more united Green Party in Hampshire which has been a Tory stronghold for so long. This event will be a starting point, to help coordinate and organise around county level issues such as the EU referendum, fracking, recycling, and other items handled centrally at Hampshire County Council.

The event will outline the aims, and start the process of support between the local groups in Hampshire. It will also provide a great press opportunity, and an opportunity for Hampshire Greens to link with businesses, NGOs, and other organisations that are interested in the Green ethos. It will help to mobilise people and unite those who are active on certain issues from across the county, both online and in reality.

Speakers at the event will speak on the following topics:

  • Campaigns relevant to Hampshire such as the EU referendum
  • How to link in with local green initiatives
  • Target to win
  • Policy pertinent to Hampshire
  • Gaining and keeping members
  • Activism in the County
  • The Hampshire Structure
