Climate Sense: Fossil fuels, divestment and renewables

Come and join our discussion in the run up to the Climate talks in Paris.

The Green Party’s Deputy Leader, Amelia Womack, and a member of Keith Taylor MEP's team will focus on the Paris talks, divestment and community renewables at this public meeting.

Peter Sims of Guildford Greens will be talking about divestment at Surrey University. The divestment campaign aims to get investors, like pension funds, to take their money out of fossil fuel companies. Desmond Tutu has called for an apartheid style boycott to protect the planet.

We’re also asking Surrey County Council to take its money out of fossil fuels (7% of its pension fund is invested in fossil fuel companies including BP - responsible for the disastrous Deepwater Horizon oil spill - and Shell). Other councils like Oxford and Bristol have already done this.

The meeting is free to attend and all are welcome.

This meeting is organised by Mole Valley and Reigate and Banstead Green Party branches.

Please RSVP so we know you're coming along.
