Plane misery

No new runways

Please support our No New Runways campaign. Take a photo of yourself with our no new runways sign in a location special to you, which is being blighted by aviation. This might be down to noisy flight paths, early or late plane movements, poor air quality, local road congested with airport traffic, special buildings, countryside or wildlife threatened by airport expansion. Do write a message on the paper plane wings, or the name of the airport causing you concern.

Quality: phone or ipad quality is fine, but please take your photo in a square format. Please record the location or postcode where you took your photo.

Then please upload your image here. Add your name and location or postcode below (this is important so we can produce the map). We will then produce a map of all the locations across the South East, London and further afield where aircraft and airport expansion blight our lives. This will then be published at our event in London on September 12 as our Map of Plane Misery.

Please ask your friends and other campaigners to do the same.

Peaceful – except on easterly takeoffs when it is hell

My garden in Teddington, ruined by planes thundering overhead.

This would be a quiet country lane in lovely countryside between Charlwood and Ifield if it wasn’t under the Gatwick flight path. If the airport sizes increases it would be even noisier and more intrusive.

My pillow, and the earplugs we have to wear in Tunbridge Wells now that NATS are directing Gatwick aircraft – including night flights – over us and tranquil places like Penshurst and Hever.

From Redhill Common you can watch planes taking off from Gatwick, 6 miles away. Then you can hear them as they thunder overhead a few minutes later. I’m concerned about the increase in air pollution, noise, traffic congestion, and the pressure for more housing for workers if Gatwick expands. And I’m concerned about the threat to the climate if either Gatwick or Heathrow expands.
